Setting text properties
You set text properties in the Properties tab of the Text Sample Inspector. Some of the text properties require other properties to be set first or to have a combination of properties set to achieve the desired result. Those instances are noted in the property descriptions.
To set text properties:
1 With the Text Sample track selected, click the Properties tab of the Text Sample Inspector.
2 Choose any of the following items:
Don't Display. Specifies that the text will not be displayed in the movie.Don't Auto Scale. Specifies that the text will not be scaled automatically.Clip To Text Box. Changes the text box size and does not rewrap the text. Before you check this checkbox, click the Layout tab and enter positive values in pixels in the Margin Width and Margin Height boxes.Use Movie BG Color. Specifies that the text color will be the same as the movie background color Shrink Text Box. Specifies that the text will shrink to new text dimensions and will be rewrapped. Note: Before you check this checkbox, click the Layout tab and enter positive values in pixels in the Margin Width and Margin Height boxes.Scroll Delay. Sets the scroll delay. Only works when scrolling is enabled and the delay time is shorter than the sample duration. For example, check Scroll In and Scroll Out. Set the sample duration to 00:00:10:.00. Set the scroll delay to 00:00:02.00. The text must scroll in for four seconds, pause for two seconds, and scroll out for four seconds (in this example, the total of these fields must be 10 seconds or less).Scroll In. Sets the start time of the scrolling text.Scroll Out. Sets the end time of the scrolling text.Horizontal Scroll. Sets the text to scroll in a horizontal manner. This QuickTime function does not work with linking text.Reverse Scroll. Reverses the direction of the scrolling text. If the text originally scrolled from bottom to top, setting this property causes the text to scroll from top to bottom. Likewise, with left to right or right to left directions.Continuous Scroll. Causes one text sample to scroll in, followed by another text sample scrolling in and out. The second text sample causes the first sample to scroll out. Scroll In and Scroll Out need to be set along with Continuous Scroll for this to work correctly. For example, create two text samples on the same Sample track. Set the first sample to Scroll In and Continuous Scroll. Set the second sample to Scroll In and Scroll Out, as well as Continuous Scroll.Flow Horizontal. Lets horizontally scrolled text flow within the text box. Leaving this unchecked causes the text to flow as if the text box has no right edge (this is the default). For example, create a text sample that will be wrapped in the text tab's text area. Set the scrolling properties to Scroll In and/or Scroll Out, as well as Horizontal Scroll.Inverse Hilite. Reverses the highlighted text color and the text color.Text Color Hilite. Sets the highlighted text color.Start and End. Sets the start and end times of the scrolling text.
